Whilst Child Protection is the responsibility of everyone within the school, we have a dedicated team who work actively to ensure that our children are fully protected and supported. They work closely with outside agencies in order to ensure that our pupils are offered the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families/carers has a role to play in safeguarding children. This means that they should consider, at all times, what is in the best interests of the child. The health, well-being and welfare of young people in our care will always be our main priority. We expect all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment.
The vision, aims and Catholic ethos of Blessed Trinity all support the intention that school provides a safe and happy environment where all children flourish, where all children are confident they will be listened to, valued and know their concerns are taken seriously and where diversity is celebrated and the gift of life cherished. School play a key role in safeguarding pupils and in the prevention of harm, early identification, intervention and support for pupils at risk of significant harm.
School is a community and all those directly connected (staff, governors, parents, families, pupils and volunteers) have an essential role to play in making it safe and secure, recognising our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children. To promote a safe environment for pupils, our selection and recruitment policy includes all checks on staff and regular volunteers’ suitability, including DBS checks, in accordance with current legislation.
All staff receive annual Child Protection and Safeguarding update training and are aware of the procedures for passing on concerns within school. All staff receives regular safeguarding and Prevent training and are constantly informed of the most effective ways in which to safeguard our students. Our safeguarding procedures apply to all adult staff on site, including temporary, supply and ancillary staff, paid and volunteers working with children including governors. We strive to ensure that consistent and effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, pupils and staff at school.
All pupils are made aware of the adults they can talk to if they have any concerns. Staff are trained to look out for signs of and are required to report these to the safeguarding team
We work closely with our multi-agency partners seeking support and guidance as required to ensure the safeguarding of young people is prioritised The policies and procedures which we follow have been laid down by the Lancashire Assurance Partnership and the school has adopted a Child Protection Policy in line with this, for the safety of all .
Our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy is updated annually.On occasions, our concern about a child may mean that we have to consult other agencies whom we will share information , in line with school policy guidelines. We will ensure that all concerns are discussed with parent/carers first, before any referrals are made, unless we believe that such a move may be contrary to a child’s welfare. We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us.
