The students at Blessed Trinity are hoping to leave the audience asking for more after their production of ‘Oliver!’

The school will be performing Oliver, based on the book Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens, at the Mechanics Theatre from July 12th-14th.

The lead role of Oliver, an orphan born in a workhouse who escapes and travels to London where he meets a group of pickpockets, will be shared by Year Nine student Claudia Bentham and Year Seven pupil Eve McNulty.

William Fort, from Year Nine, will play the Artful Dodger and admits he has little stage experience but is relishing the role. He will share the part with Nadine Bergundo.

Shakira Khan has the role of Fagan and will play that in every performance.

“We performed Bugsy Malone last year and it was a real success,” said Ms Wright, Curriculum Leader for Performing Arts.

“We chose Oliver! because it has a big cast and we do have so many talented students at Blessed Trinity who wanted to take part.

“It’s a classic which both parents and pupils know and the scenery is great – we are really excited.”
