Blessed Trinity's Year 11 band made their first - and maybe last - performance but went out on a high, winning the Performer of the Year award at the school's annual showcase event.

Pupils from all year groups were invited to perform in the heats in four different categories: Dance, Drama, Singer, Musician.

After a tough rounds of heats, acts from each category went through to a final which was an evening performance to an audience with three judges, RE Teacher Laura Murray, piano teacher Dave Kennedy and Lorraine Jones, Head of Performing Arts at Burnley College.

Each category had a winner, one of which was chosen as the overall ‘Performer of the Year’ Award.

Year Seven Eve won the Dance award, Year 11 Florence celebrated the drama prize while Year 10 Alice won the singing award.

Musicians and Performers of the Year went to the Year 11 band consisting of Alex, Rhys, Harris and Sean.

"We got together for the show and performed Five Year's Time by Noah and the Whale," said Alex. "We aren't sure if we will perform again though. it was just a one-off."
